Share a story with us and then let's make art together. No rules in this class--you make whatever inspires you! We draw, paint, collage, sculpt and more!

Storytime Art Classes
We've got live classes, an on-demand library, and a team of instructors waiting for you!
All of our classes for preschool artists start with a story. We'll share a new book and then make art inspired by our experiences with the story and/or illustrations.
Drawing Classes
In our drawing classes, we use pencils, markers, oil pastels, chalk pastels, and crayons. We also vary the types of paper!
Mixed Media Classes
Mixed media classes include cutting-and-glueing as well as artworks that use more than one type of media.
Painting Classes
We paint with both watercolors and tempera paints. Don't be intimidated...painting doesn't have to mean messy.
Sculpture
We love to make 3D things! We use paper, dough, clay, and recyclables to create sculpture inspired by the story.
Who teaches classes?
The whole Orange Easel instructor team teaches in the Creation Nation in addition to our in-studio classes.
Orange Easel is a kids' art studio with two locations in the Kansas City metro. We've been serving our community (and beyond) since 2014.

Classes happen LIVE with an Orange Easel instructor every Wednesday morning.
We meet 9:30am-10:15am(ish) CST/CDTvia the Zoom platform.

I was an artsy kid who grew into an artist.
My hometown in Illinois had an art school, run by a local artist who taught art lessons in her basement. When I was eight, my parents signed me up for the first of many lessons with Mrs. Funk and that began my official journey to becoming an artist.
She taught me to use charcoal, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk pastels, watercolors, acrylics and oils. I sometimes think I learned more from her than I did in my years in college classes.
Not every hometown is lucky enough to have a Funk's Art School.
Not every artsy kid is blessed to have a Mrs. Funk to encourage them.
So in 2014, I started Orange Easel--a local studio to serve the artsy kids of Kansas City.
And then in 2020, the entire Orange Easel team opened the Creation Nation--an online studio to serve artsy kids everywhere.
